Happy Easter!

Easter weekend kicked off with a neighborhood Easter egg hunt and bbq on Saturday. Koen's best buddy Cooper lives just around the corner so they had a great time chasing each other and sharing their prizes. Koen doesn't like any candy that's not chocolate so Cooper lucked out big time!

On Easter morning we had an egg hunt with riddles around the house and then the kids spent some time playing with their Easter basket loot. At noon we drove out to my Grandpa Jack's house in Parma for the Coles family Easter lunch. Sage was all "egged" out by then and amused herself eating dirt while Koen looked long and hard for the golden egg. He didn't ever find it but instead found an egg with a dollar hidden in it (strategically placed by Kenn). He's decided he's going to save it so he can buy a garbage truck -- the kids obsessed with garbage trucks!

The last event was dinner at the Hardins followed by an Easter egg scavenger hunt. It was a long day but loads of fun!

Sage is 1!

Sage's 1st birthday was February 7th and we had a small family party to celebrate our little lady. I made and decorated an Elmo cake which was a labor of love for me because I am not a patient person and it took a LOT of patience to carefully squeeze each frosting star. Luckily my efforts paid off and it actually looked like Elmo :) Sage is now officially a toddler and is running/climbing everywhere! She loves to dance, play with balls, go to the park and loves to be outside.

Kenn's new job requires a lot of travel when the plants are blooming (he's a plant biologist) so this winter has been great because everything is dead so he gets to stay home! We've kept busy with work, Koen's soccer class and lots of trips to the neighborhood park. Koen's still into volcanos so a frequent activity is to pile up all the stuffed animals and pillows and take turns jumping off the couch into the volcano to explore.

Christmas 2011

At 10 months, Sage is just beginning to walk and definitely keeps us on our toes. She likes to be where big brother is and doing what he is and is now has 8 words, 6 signs and 6 teeth. She's still biting when frustrated but as her communication skills increase she gets frustrated less frequently so we're hoping she'll grow out of the biting stage soon! Koen's newest fascination is volcanos and so we're spending lots of time piling cushions into volcanos and running around avoiding the hot lava. Koen is still doing soccer class on Saturdays and has really improved in his basic skills but he's still not a big fan of scrimages ... people jostling him make him very nervous.

Christmas was busy and exhausting as usual but it's great to watch how excited the kids get! Koen was thrilled to get the garbage truck he's been dying for and has played with it every day since Christmas! Sage's favorite presents are balls and her little coupe car.
