December 2012

Koen was very excited to see Santa this year.
Sage - not so much!

Still angry about the whole Santa thing...
I love the peacefulness of a lighted tree in a dark decorated living room.  It always brings back the feelings of magic and wonder Xmas inspired in me as a kid.
First attempt at a picture in front of the Xmas tree for a Xmas card photo - not so successful.
Koen is really into making "silly" faces.
First snow of the season.
First Basque dancing performance!  Koen is waiting to perform with his best friend Cooper. I danced as a little girl so it's fun to see Koen doing the same.  Sage can't wait till she's 4 so she can be a Txikituak too!
Koen is the little boy in the light blue jacket. Note the fingers - we're still working on getting him to stop sucking them ;( (This picture is really small but if you click on it a larger version will pop up)

It was a long performance and by the end the little txikis were tired of waiting!
Reading Christmas stories before bed. "Gingerbread baby" is a favorite.

Koen is working on his photography skills - Sage and I are his  favorite subjects.

More photos of Sage and I courtesy of Koen.
Making gingerbread and sugar cookies.  I think more frosting was eaten than made it on the cookies but that's the point isn't it ;)

Koen was very proud of his gingerbread baby masterpiece and considered saving it but quickly decided that it would be better eaten than preserved...

Second attempt at a Xmas card photo in front of the tree.  Why is it so hard to take pictures of little kids?!
We've been reading a wonderful book Koen received last Xmas from his aunt in Chicago, "The Bear Snores on", which inspired the kids to  play "hibernating" with their buddy Cooper.  This meant they pretended to snore until one of them pretended to sneeze and then they all woke up to party (read the book...you'll understand ;)
Party faces

Christmas Eve at the Hardins. Koen was very excited to get an ambulance, books, dinosaurs and campfire set.
"No me" says Sage. That's her favorite phrase lately. She's a very independent little missy.

Sage is really into Dora this year.  She also got some great books and blocks.

Christmas morning - Koen woke thrilled to realize that he'd been a nice boy and so Santa came.  He was a little surprised that Sage got a present because, "She's not always so nice. She pinches and bites sometimes.
I guess that Santa didn't see her those days. "  (Not sure why some of the pictures came out blue...)
Santa brought Koen a sand and water table (and dinosaurs)
and Sage a keyboard (and a doll).

Merry Xmas!!

Christmas day at our house with the Uranga's.  Joe and Luke Watterson were sick but we got to celebrate with Jill and  baby Evie and Tony who was down from McCall.  After exchanging gifts with my sister, brother and mom we hosted the whole Uranga clan.  We are so blessed to have such a large, boisterous, loving extended family!!
I love my brother and sister!!
and my mom too!
We forgot to take pictures during the Uranga Xmas but did manage to get one shot of Sage eating dessert.
Koen's first snowman of the year - built at Papa (my dad's) cabin in Donnelley.

Fall fun

Koen was so excited to have a sleepover with his 2nd cousin Sean.  Sean  has lots of Legos so he is Koen's hero!!
Sage enjoying the attention from her 2nd cousin Megan. I think they were working on their "sassy"attitudes...

Halloween

Koen was Spiderman and Sage refused to wear a costume so she just sported a festive shirt.  We celebrated with the annual pinata pizza party at the Willoughby's and then raced around the neighborhood for candy! Sage really got into it this year and kept up with the big kids.  The night ended with the kids doing the traditional candy trade that I remember fondly from my childhood. I think Koen came out the best in this deal this year :)
