I just received a gentle reminder from a long distance relative that the pictures on the blog are the only way they get to see my kids grow up so I guess I'd better do some catch-up...
Early 2013:
Sage and Nana (my mom) on Sage's 2nd birthday (Feb 2nd) |
Opening a puzzle with help from Koen, cousin Luke and cousin Megan |
Exploring the hieroglyphs at Celebration Park |
Koen (center) at his spring Basque dancing performance. He is pretty shy so I am always nervous he will panic at the performances but he does great. I think it's fun that he is carrying on the family tradition of Basque dancing. I only danced for a few years so we'll see how long he makes it! |
Lazy mornings... |
Sledding at Bogus |
Coloring Easter eggs |
Resting after the crazy neighborhood Easter egg hunt |
Easter morning scavenger hunt tradition: The Easter bunny hides eggs all over the house with clues to the next egg. The last clue leads to the kids Easter baskets. In this picture Kenn is reading the first clue... |
Sage and cousin Luke after the family Easter egg hunt |
Sage and Grandma Jerri chatting after Easter dinner |
Hiking in the foothills |
Camping in June:
Koen and Kenn are the early camping risers in this family. Koen had his breakfast finished and had been "waiting by the fire for hours" before Sage and I crawled out of the tent |
Koen's very excited we are finally up so we can start hiking... |
You can't really see her - but the brown lump is our dog Kya. She is 11 years old and pretty sore but still loves coming along on our adventures. Sadly we lost our other lab, Kona (age 10), this summer to cancer. |
July:
Koen's 5th Birthday (July 3rd) |
It was over 100 degrees on Koen's birthday so the kids cooled off with the pool/slip-n-slide |
Koen and Sage relaxing after the party with my sister Jill's kids (Evie - 14 mo, Luke - 2.5). Not sure what kind of sign language Koen is doing or why Sage is wearing a swim cap... I think they were delirious from the heat and sugar! |
My cousin Jerri's daughter, Megan, came over to watch Koen, Sage and cousin Luke while we trimmed the bushes.
They were very helpful collecting the branches in the wagon.
Sage was apparently concerned about her safety (note the bike helmet)... |
Oregon Coast: We spent a week in August with Dieu and Sena Dihn and their daughters Aria and Kyla. We spent a few days at their home in Portland and then were off to the beach in Tierra del Mar. It was a perfect vacation and we can't wait to replicate it this summer!
Multnomah Falls
Koen and Aria playing with ladybugs while we picked berries to take to the Coast. |
Sage and Kenn enjoying the berries for breakfast at the Dihns house before we headed to the beach!
Sage and Kyla- two very sweet and sassy two and a half year olds!
Oregon Coast Aquarium. All the ladies may have been too much for Koen to handle at times! ;) |
Dieu, Sena and Kenn loving the seafood, wine and fresh air off the ocean. I (unfortunately for me, fortunately for them) do not like seafood so I just enjoyed the wine and fresh air :) |
Kenn surfing |
Sage was very happy that Kenn survived surfing. |
Flying kites |
The Dihns |
Group picture before leaving |
Playing in the water at Yachats (we stayed there one night on the way home) |
The kids loved playing under this bridge on the way home |
Looking at the volcanos at McKenzie Pass |
Fall 2013:
Getting ready to climb the Bruneau Sand Dunes |
Carving pumpkins. |
Backyard lunch with cousin Luke (just turned 3) and Evie (1.5) |
Koen visiting Grandma Jerri |
Four generations of Urangas |
Sage was a "nice witch" for Halloween |
Koen wanted to be Spiderman again... |
...but added a twist by deciding to be vampire Spiderman! |
Loading up the wagon to start the mad rush to get candy.
(Our neighbor Jon got caught in the picture - welcome to the blog Jon)!
